Hein van de Geyn has played jazz ever since he finished his studies at the Brabant Conservatory in Tilburg and the conservatory of Rotterdam at the end of the 1970s.
In 2001 he began a sabbatical in South Africa during which he starting writing an instruction book, Comprehensive Bass Method. From 2008 to 2010 he was artistic manager of the Rotterdam Jazz Academy at Codarts. In 2010 he stopped his career as a performing bassist and moved with his family to South Africa to run a guest house and artisanal bakery.
He continues to write, and teach.....
